In with the NEW!

This past Sunday, we unveiled something that has been in the works since this past summer.  Josh and some of our leadership have been talking about this for months now, refining and perfecting this new idea for our church. You can imagine my excitement when, finally, we were able to share it with all of you. Of course, it was totally my idea.  😉

Morgantown Community Church exists to empower people to take the next step on their journey with Christ.

It may seem simple, short and easy, (which is kind of the point!) but it was time consuming and tough to work through. It’s something that I am so proud to say that I am a part of in this new year. The statement isn’t perfect, but its our attempt to be the church that Christ has called us to be.  We feel that its something that each of our ministries can apply, as well as each individual who calls MCC home.

In our student ministry, we are applying the same statement to our ministry, with the addition of our special tagline that has become a statement that we have been saying for about a year now.

It’s okay to be where you are with Jesus, it’s just not okay to stay there.

I’m so excited as we implement these statements into our church. There is much to be said for being unified behind a goal that we can all work towards.  Our students know that the second statement is something that completely changes the way we treat other people.  Over the next 4 Sundays, we’re going to be looking at the 4 principles that our church is going to focus on as we implement our mission.  I don’t want to ruin the surprise, so I’ll be updating with our core values each week, and how stuCo plans to implement them.

So, I’ll ask all of you what I asked many of our students this past Sunday at 612…

What is the next step that you can take to move forward on your Journey?

For me, it’s committing to this blog, and into communicating with our church and its people more. What about you?

I love hearing about the new things at MCC and especially with the youth…it sounds like it’s going to be great! Thanks for sharing! Right now, I have to live EVERY day with the mindset that the only reason I was created was to glorify and work for the other words–He’s my loving boss, and I’m his willing employer 🙂 thanks for posting!
